After removing the original seal, this replacement seal should be pushed into the seal channel with your fingers. The flat side of the seal should be pushed into the sash channel. The round side with the hole in the middle should be on the outside. The window, when closing, will compress the visible, rounded side of the seal. No adhesive is required for this seal.
When joining the two ends, make sure they are at the top of the window. Leave about 1/8" excess seal when when cutting, then compress the two ends together to provide a tight compression seal.
