Galvanized Window Screen
($16.00 per roll)
Our 24 ft x 2 ft roll is enough to cover all the windows in a typical vintage trail with some overage in case you make a mistake. The screen wire specs are electro-galvanized and .009 gauge with an 18 x 14 weave mesh.
Part# 0102
Hehr First Generation and Standard windows, in the 1940s and 1950s, required galvanized screen. The screen is very tough and durable. The screen is held in place by crimping it over edges in the window frame. A spline is not used. Modern aluminum or fabric screen will not crimp and therefore cannot be used as a replacement in your windows. The screen wire is crimped in place with an offset roller. Excess is trimmed, after crimping, with a pair of small metal shears.
We use the offset roller, part# 0103, and small metal shears when we restore windows in our shop.
