Hehr Glazing for Vintage Hehr Awning Windows

Note 1: The First Generation Hehr windows were used in vintage travel trailers and campers from the late 1940's to the early 1950's. There is no known Hehr part number.

Note 2: The original glazing, 0114KA, was thermally formed to fit around the curved corners to prevent the material from "bunching up" around the corners. This product cannot be thermally formed because the dies and thermal forming equipment are no longer available. The problem is solved by cutting slices, every 1/4", around the outside of the glazing channel along the curves, with a razor blade, as illustrated in the above photo. This glazing is compatible with 1/16" or 3/32" glass. The original glass thickness was 3/32". 1/8" glass will not work with this glazing. Please note that extreme care must be taken when trying to install glass with this glazing. The large thickness of the glazing makes it difficult to successfully install 3/32" glass.

Note 2: Many of our customers have expressed diffuculty trying to install glass with the original Hehr glazing product Part# 0114KA. As a result, we have developed and tested alternate glazing products 0114KAALT332 and 0114KAALT18 to ensure an easier and more reliable installation experience. Glazing 0114KAALT332 is designed for 3/32" glass. Glazing 0114KAALT18 is designed for 1/8" glass. Detailed instructions for installing glass in these windows can be found by selecting the "Vintage Window Library" tab at the top of this web page then selecting Section 1.1.7.

Note 3: When generating your pattern for a glass pane, please note the following:

• The glass pane should overlap the inside of the aluminum frame by 1/8". If more then 1/8", you will not be able to install the glass.
• The radii for the corners of the glass pane for these windows, with the 1/8" overlap, is 1 1/4".
• If you are installing new glass, we recommend using 1/8" glass along with glazing 0114KAALT18.
• If you are re-installing original 3/32" glass, we recommend glazing 0114KAALT332.

Note 4: Use liberal amounts of Dawn dish soap, on both inside and outside of glazing channel, while installing.
